This recipe was my maternal grandmother’s gift to the world and my very favorite thing to eat as a treat. I realize that this delicious dessert does not photograph well but if you have been making my recipes from my blog for a while, I hope we have built up a certain level of trust. TRUST ME, this recipe is awesome and different from most of what people are making these days. A little time consuming but well worth the effort! But, and this is key, you need to make them and put them in a airtight container for 24 hours before you serve them. They freeze beautifully for about 4 months. Remember to thank me later!
Ingredients
- 8 ounces chopped, pitted dates
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups Rice Krispies
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- powdered sugar
Instructions
- Combine dates, sugar, and butter in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
- Add pecans and Rice Krispies. Stir well to combine.
- Cool enough so you can handle them comfortably enough to roll them into small finger shapes.
- Roll fingers in powdered sugar.
- Put them in an airtight bag and do not begin to eat them until 24 hours have passed. And then tell everyone to subscribe to the blog!
