So, I went to a fun Ladies Night at a friend’s house the other night and my friend Sharon Johnson brought this appetizer and I think I ate half of them. I could not get enough! She was kind enough to share the recipe with me which she calls “an oldie but goodie!”. I brought it to another Holiday Soiree last night and everyone liked them as much as I did that first night. Easy but slightly sophisticated, cheesy, and wonderfully filling. Served warm in a crunchy wonton cup and woah Nelly! Your family and friends will go nuts! Make these tonight!
Ingredients
- 16 ounce roll of mild pork sausage
- 1 cup ranch dressing
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 cup shredded monterey jack
- 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, finely diced (or you can use red/green bell peppers if you can tolerate them)
- 1 package fresh wontons (I used Nasoya which are in the refrigerated section and are gluten free)
Instructions
- Cook sausage until browned, then drain fat. Add all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray small muffin tin and place uncooked wontons in each muffin hole and gently push them in to make a small bowl for wonton filling. Do not add the filling yet. Cook empty wontons for 5-8 minutes until crispy but not very brown.
- Fill baked wontons with sausage mixture and cook for 7-9 minutes. Serve hot!
- Another way to serve this recipe is to spray a casserole pan and heat the filling until hot, for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve while hot with Stacy’s Naked Chips or tortilla chips and don’t worry about the wontons.
