When my children were in high school and on various sports teams, they loved to have the team over for breakfast on game days. And game day breakfast was not in anyway complete without Team Breakfast Casserole. This recipe is great because you can make it the night before and pop them in the oven when you wake up.
Ingredients
- 6-8 slices firm white bread
- 1 lb mild sausage, cooked and drained
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup swiss cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13″ baking dish. Trim crusts from bread and cover the bottom of the dish. Distribute sausage evenly over the bread. Place eggs, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and milk in a bowl and beat well with a whisk. Spread cheese evenly over the sausage and cover it with the milk mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to sit in fridge overnight or to sit for about 30 minutes if cooking immediately. Bake for 30 minutes or until it is golden brown. Serve immediately.
