I have missed this little corner of my world and have missed interacting with all of you. But rest assured, I have some great recipes that I have amassed while being radio silent! Let’s start with this easy and delicious tuna tartare. This recipe is perfect for summer as no cooking is required. Prepare for your friends to be impressed with your culinary skills!
Ingredients
- 3/4 pound very fresh tuna steak
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- grated zest of 1 lime
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon wasabi powder or 1-2 teaspoon wasabi paste
- 1 & 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 6 dashes Tabasco sauce
- 1 & 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 cup minced scallions, white & green parts
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- wasabi peas (optional)
- chopped seaweed (optional)
Cut the tuna into 1/4″ pieces and place in a medium bowl. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, lime zest, lime juice, wasabi, soy sauce, tabasco, salt and pepper. Pour over the tuna and add scallions, and mix well. Cut the avocado into 1/4″ pieces. Carefully mix the avocado into the tuna mix. Add toasted sesame seeds and season to taste. Allow the mixture to sit in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour for flavors to blend. Just before serving, sprinkle with wasabi peas and chopped seaweed (if using). Serve on crackers or with pita chips. Enjoy!
