No one need text or email me that this is not healthy. I am well aware of it. But it is really, truly yummy and everyone needs some recipes that you make because they are simply delicious! My wonderful mom discovered this recipe and it is a sweet and salty treat that can feed a crowd without much hassle. It is NOT a quick recipe but the hassle factor is low and the volume of food it produces is high. My youngest son, Travis, tries to eat the entire thing! And when it is in the fridge, he eats it 3 meals a day until it is gone. I love to pair this with a cheese grits casserole and some vegetables for the equivalent of a home cooked hug!
Ingredients
- Inexpensive bone-in ham
- 1 box of dark brown sugar
- 1 large can crushed pineapple
Instructions
- Put an inexpensive bone-in ham in a large oven bag. Pour box of dark brown sugar and can of crushed pineapple over the ham. Follow instructions for bag use but do not pull the cord completely tight. You want a small opening for steam to escape. Put the bag inside a large pan (I use a turkey pan).
- Bake at 300 degrees for 5 hours until ham pulls apart easily when mashed with a large spoon while still in bag. Discard the bone.
- Pour contents of bag carefully into a large serving dish. Caution: it is very hot! Serve immediately by itself or with cheese grits or rice.
Count me along those who read and love your blog! But I love **you** even more and am so glad to hear you are on the mend! Can’t wait til we all get two shots in the arm and can be together again! Virtual long distance hugs til then 💖
Thank you Cathy! I MISS YOU! I am feeling good and very positive about the prognosis. And can hardly wait to get immunized so I can hug all of my friends! Have you read any fabulous books lately?
Love seeing these recipes even though I am cooking very little these days, they bring up wonderful memories- food seems to do that in unexpected ways.
Are the ginger cookies like the crisp ,thin ones from World MARKET from Sweden called Nyakers?
So very pleased that you are now in a happier place.
I’m working on a book review I have to give on Zoom Thurs.
Food makes memories and instantly brings my favorite people and lovely places to mind. These cookies could probably be rolled thin to get a crisper cookie but the way I make them they are not super crispy! What book are you reviewing?
